KENT JUNIOR SCHOOL OF FASHION & ARTS

Online Creative Juniors (6-16 Yr olds)

Our much requested online creative and sewing programme for Children and Young people across the world is now here!
The Online Creative Juniors Programme is an exciting and unique learning opportunity for children aged 6 to 16, designed specifically for young creatives who have a keen interest in Sewing, Creating garments, Arts, Crafts and Designing. This online program is taught in the most simple, and engaging way to maximise learning for our young creatives, and welcomes young creators from around the world!

A Year-Long Program Structure
Online Creative Juniors program runs for a whole year, and designed to mirror the academic calendar. Each week, students will receive a new set of lessons with an average of four lessons per month, ensuring a steady pace of learning. The curriculum has been specifically structured into Terms, and upon completing each week, young creators automatically gain access to the following week’s lessons. To progress, students must finish the previous week’s lessons, allowing them to fully absorb the material and build their skills over time.
Interactive Learning Experience
All lessons are pre-recorded, and a range of fun learning methods are offered, including videos, quizzes, and other creative learning activities to cater to different learning styles. We do know and understand young people learn in different ways, and we are committed to supporting our young creatives to maximise their learning. There is support available for questions and live sessions for young creatives to join in. Our young creatives can also go at their own pace, and can go slower if they need to.
All lessons remain accessible all year round.

Curriculum Overview
Each week, students will dive into a rich and diversified curriculum including:
- Sewing Classes: From learning how to use the sewing machine to real sewing projects.
- Art Classes: Explore drawing, painting, clay, various artistic techniques and materials.
- Craft and Making Classes: Puppetry, origami, paper craft and several engaging craft projects.

Skill Levels and Progression Pathway

Frequently asked questions

When can my young creative start?

The best time to start your young creatives is now. While you are getting their creative supplies ready, they can begin watching the lessons and getting familiarised with taught concepts. You can register them to start now, or anytime in the year.

What payment options do you offer?

Payments are taken via automatic payments of £14.99 on subscriptions monthly throughout the year or you can make an annual payment of £159.99 saving £20.99.
Subscriptions can be cancelled at any time, but this will mean access to the course, progress and uncompleted certifications will be lost.

What other materials do we need?

Our lessons have been structured and planed to be progressive, and scaffolded and you do not need to buy all sewing tools and materials in a go. To begin, we recommended a sewing machine, and a craft box. We provide a comprehensive monthly (for every 4 weeks) list of supplies to registered creatives.
We also offer a monthly discounted subscription of £14.99 to cover all required fabrics, threads, craft items and haberdashery needed for every 4 weeks. This is currently only available to UK addresses and delivery is free.

Would my child need to have a sewing machine ?

We highly recommend that all registered creatives have access to a sewing machine for their practical work. For sewing machine recommendations, please do contact us.

My Young Person has special requirements.

We make sure to follow British Dyslexic Association guidelines for Dyslexic learners, and also incorporate teaching styles to suit neurodiverse learners in the programme. We have specifically developed this programme with inclusivity at its center. Please do speak to us about any special needs and support required, we try to be flexible to accommodate diverse needs to support our young creatives..

Who are we?

Can I register siblings on 1 subscription/ payment?

Each young person is required to have a separate and individual registration and subscription. However, we offer siblings discount, do contact us for up to 10% siblings discount.

How long will it take to complete each level?

We estimate it will take about 1 academic year of weekly leaning and practise to complete a level. Each level has been divided into 6 terms to mirror the academic year, leaving time for holidays and breaks. However, young creatives are welcome to follow their own leaning pace to complete activities in each level.
After completion, young people will be moved on to the next level if creative submissions meet award requirements.

How do we receive our Awards/ Certificates?

Young creatives will be awarded certificates at the end of terms/ levels/ year for their dedication, innovative and creative work. These certificates are awarded by Kent School of Fashion and available for download on your course page after level completion.
