CREATE, CARE AND REPAIR

Dressing Gown
Workshop

As we round up Winter, our community is coming together to make anothe School Wide Make - a Dressing Gown!

As part of our ongoing Create, Care, and Repair campaign, our school-wide sewing project running this March is the making of a Robe (Dressing Gown), a practical, beautifully constructed piece that would help to build more confidence in your garment making. It is another invitation to create with purpose, care for our garments, and repair our relationship with fashion and sustainability.

In this one-day workshop, you will cut and sew your own robe from start to finish and leave with a completed garment at the end of the session.

This project is part of our ongoing Create, Care, and Repair campaign, a movement within our school to inspire people to make, to mend, and to cherish their clothes. Through it, we are nurturing a culture of mindful making and showing that fashion can be both creative and kind to the planet.

The Story Behind the Project

The idea for this project began with a simple question:

“What if everyone in our community made one thing — together?”

Beginning with our Creative Year 25/26, our school runs a seasonal project every term, each designed to inspire creativity, skill-building, and sustainable fashion practices.

After the success of our Beginner’s Course, which has now welcomed over 80 new learners into the world of sewing, we wanted to take the next step. The school wide projects give everyone, beginners and experienced makers alike the chance to create something meaningful, to slow down, and to connect through making.

It is not just about learning how to sew the dressing gown.
It is about learning why we make, why we care, and how we can repair our relationship with the clothes we wear and the world we live in.
