It starts with you..

Did you know the fashion industry produces millions of tonnes of waste each year? The rise of fast fashion has increased overproduction and overconsumption, creating a growing problem for our environment and communities.

In the UK alone, according to WRAP, 711,000 tonnes of unwanted clothing and textiles were disposed of by households at Household Waste Recycling Centres in 2024 — the equivalent of around 30,000 shipping containers.

At KSF/ KJSF, we believe change can begin with us as individuals and within our local communities. Through our Create, Care and Repair campaign, we want to encourage slower, more thoughtful fashion habits.

Instead of always buying new, we want to bring back the joy of making, caring for, mending, altering and repurposing the clothes we already own.

Join us on this sustainability journey as you learn how to use a sewing machine, sew seams, make simple alterations, mend garments and begin repurposing clothing with confidence.

We want our classes to feel welcoming, practical and well-supported from the moment you arrive.

  •  All materials for class projects will be provided, including fabrics, patterns and basic haberdashery needed during the course.
  • You will also have access to sewing machines and studio equipment during your sessions, so you do not need to own a machine before joining.
  • Our classes are taught by experienced sewing and fashion tutors who will guide you step by step, helping you build confidence with the sewing machine, understand basic sewing techniques and begin creating your own handmade pieces.
This course is designed to give you a strong, supportive start to your sewing journey, with quality teaching, clear demonstrations and practical projects you can be proud of.
